What Happens if You Receive an ArtsEZ Grant in the Spring?

Northampton Arts Inc. has initiated a Direct Grant Program for our ArtsEZ grant round. Approved grantees will receive their award funding upfront.

How does the Arts Council decide which grant proposals get funded?
The members of the Arts Council review each grant. Each council member is assigned a grant category and carefully reads every proposal, following up with the artists for additional information if necessary. During the grant review meeting, each designated council member presents the grants in their category to the entire council. After hearing presentations on all the grant submissions, each council member scores each grant proposal.

About Direct Grant Funding

Northampton Arts Inc. has initiated a Direct Grant Program for our ArtsEZ grant round. Approved grantees will receive their award funding upfront.

To receive grant funds, the recipient must submit a completed Grant Agreement and W-9, both of which will be sent to you shortly after receiving the award announcement.

All successful applicants must acknowledge the Northampton Arts Council for providing funds to the project in all press materials, including posters, programs, announcements, and paid advertising, by displaying the Northampton Arts Council logo on these materials. Please do so to avoid losing funding. An example of proper credit would be: "A grant from the Northampton Arts Council supports this program." Please also add the Northampton Arts Council logo to the press materials. We strongly encourage sending a press release and a JPEG image to arts@northamptonma.gov at least two weeks prior to the project's commencement, so we can promote the public component of your funded project.

Grant recipients have one year from the date of their award notification to complete their program and submit their final report. The final report includes a brief form and evidence that the event took place and was credited as promised (ex: programs, news clippings, press releases, photos, testimonies, videos, etc.) The final report should be sent to the Arts Council within two weeks of completing the funded program but no later than one year from the award notification date.

If the funded program or project is still incomplete, the grantee is responsible for returning the grant funds in total to the Northampton Arts Council. Grantees that only repay the grant funds risk jeopardizing future funding. If you require additional time to complete your project, please submit a letter to the Northampton Arts Council, addressed to the Northampton Arts Council, requesting a six-month extension. Please provide details about your project and explain why you require an extension.
