The J. Scott Brandon Scholarship Fund, a creation of the Northampton Arts Council, plays a pivotal role in shaping the musical journeys of students at Northampton High School. It provides financial assistance for music lessons and instrument supplies throughout their high school careers. We offer a scholarship for weekly lessons by a musician at a local music school (Downtown Sounds or Northampton Community Music School—student’s choice). This initiative by the Northampton Arts Council is a testament to our commitment to providing opportunities for all students, regardless of their financial resources, to become part of an inclusive community of musicians. This year, Northampton High School teachers have witnessed the highest number of independently-formed high school bands since the inception of the J. Scott Brandon Fund.
